Every plastic surgeon has a specific procedure that they specialize in, what is yours? Cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, including breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, cosmetic body contouring and body contouring after weight loss, including arm lifts and mommy makeovers, tummy tuck, body lift, face lift and non-surgical facial rejuvenation. My staff and I also perform minimally invasive and non-surgical cosmetic procedures for radiant, younger looking skin, including Botox®, injectable fillers (Juvederm, Restylane), and chemical peels. What happens during a cosmetic consultation? During our initial meeting I am there to listen to and educate my patients. Each person has individual needs and it is important to make sure that every patient is well-informed and has realistic expectations. I spend a great deal of time with each patient so that everyone is comfortable and confident with their choices. What is your medical training and background? After completing extensive plastic and reconstructive surgical training in St. Louis, Chicago and New York City, I returned home to Chicago. I graduated as the Valedictorian of my high school class and went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Illinois Wesleyan University. Then, I graduated with honors from the St. Louis University School of Medicine. During my medical training in Chicago, I completed my internship and residency training in General Surgery at Rush University Medical Center, followed by a prestigious Hand Surgery Fellowship. I completed my Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery training in New York City at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, one of the oldest and most acclaimed programs in the country. Included in my training were cosmetic rotations at New York City’s prestigious Manhattan Eye and Ear Infirmary. I am very proud of my recent induction into the Leo M. Davidoff Society in recognition of my outstanding achievements in teaching. I continue to teach and educate my patients to ensure that all patients are fully informed and any questions or concerns are addressed prior to surgery. Is Board Certification important when choosing your Plastic Surgeon? Board certification is of utmost importance and a key criteria when choosing your plastic surgeon. There are many “cosmetic” doctors in the community, however, the American Board of Plastic Surgery maintains the highest standards for the education, examination, certification, and maintenance of certification of plastic surgeons in the United States. I am currently Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. RealSelf Patient Reviews of Bradley Ashpole, MD

    Frequently Asked Questions

Who is at risk for developing varicose veins?

Women naturally have a higher chance of developing varicose veins, especially women who are pregnant. However, it is important to keep in mind that roughly 42 percent of men experience varicose veins by the time they turn 60. Family history is one of the biggest factors that determine whether or not you will develop varicose veins.

If you don’t get your varicose veins removed, they may result in skin sores, skin ulcers, blood clots or even deep vein thrombosis (DVT). It is best to get your veins treated as soon as possible to reduce your risk of developing complications down the road.

There is a misconception that when Botox is administered, it results in a frozen or numb facial appearance. In simpler terms, patients may feel like they will no longer be able to make facial expressions. This is why it is important to find a qualified surgeon with years of experience administering Botox, as they will be able to judge how much Botox you need and help judge the size of your muscles.

Botox is extremely effective in temporarily reducing wrinkles! Whether you have forehead lines that you don’t like or you want to get rid of frown lines or crow’s feet, the highly purified toxins in Botox can help erase them!

The side effects of Botox in Itasca are typically mild and short-lived. You can expect slight bruising, and, in one to five percent of cases, Botox may cause mild droopiness of the eyelid or the eyebrow. This usually goes away within two weeks.

Though it’s often the best option if your condition has progressed, you can also take measures to avoid varicose and spider veins besides vein treatment. To reduce your chances of developing unsightly veins, it’s important to exercise, avoid standing or sitting for long periods of time, maintain a healthy weight, and/or use compression stockings.
